Strange Mono is excited to announce our collaboration with D.S.I. Archives for Luna Honey’s Parables.
Luna Honey combines murky bass grooves, unhinged distortion, and haunted vocals for a sound that builds from darkly hypnotic to feverishly unmoored. Luna Honey's latest offering continues their distinctive style down a more dark and psychedelic path while still maintaining their tight, pop-sensible compositions and restrained musicianship.

Principal songwriter Maura Pond’s astounding vocal performances throughout Parables are some of their finest to date. Songs like Birth and Smirk, with their hypnotic rhythms, serve up an irresistible sense of anticipation perfectly resolved with an explosion of melody and emotion. The instrumentation on their track Signal evokes the punk aesthetics of The Birthday Party, while Maura’s brooding vocals and deft lyricism juxtapose Grace Slick and spiritual mantras. Solitude brings us back to Luna Honey’s roots, Pond's oozing delivery of “come out, come out, wherever you are” creates an uneasy and addictive tension. “If you’re unfamiliar with dark-sounding music, you think it sounds really depressing and dark,” says Benjamin Schurr, “but if you’re familiar with it, it sounds very holy and very spiritual.”

Luna Honey consists of Maura Pond, Benjamin Schurr, and Levi Flack, often inviting different guests into the studio for each album. The trio has total freedom in the studio, often trading instruments and experimenting with unconventional instruments such as pitch-shifted harmonica, Marxophone, prepared piano, scrapyard finds, and unloved vintage drum machines. The band has played with artists such as Exploded View, Norman Westberg (Swans),Molly Nilsson, Eric Hubel (Glenn Branca Band), Abdu Ali, Martin Bisi, Buck Gooter, Pageant Girls, and Hackedepicciotto (Einstuerzende Neubauten).

Proceeds from the Limited Edition cassette release of this album are being donated to the Southern Poverty Law Center in an effort to support their battle against racial and social injustice
